Gloss meters test the specular reflection on all types of surfaces to determine the consistency of a coating finish. They can test at various angles of incidence depending on the testing standard or requirement. Typically the primary test angle is 60°. The multi angle units can test simultaneously at 20°, 60° and 85° useful for very matte or highly reflective surfaces. Commonly used in the tile, ceramics, flooring and paint industries as a means of quality control for surface finishes. The measurement scale used is GU or Gloss Units. 45° and 75° angles are also available upon request for specific applications.
