GLOSS METER

Measure the specular reflection of any surface.

Gloss is the superficial luster or shine of an object. A Gloss Meter will test the specular reflection on all types of surfaces to determine the consistency of a coating finish. Main Industry techincal standards are ISO 2813 and ASTM D526. The Gloss Meter can test at various angles of incidence depending on the testing standard or requirement. The primary test angle is 60° which covers semi gloss between 10 to 70 G.U. The multiple angle units can test simultaneously at 20°, 60° and 85° useful for very matte or highly reflective surfaces such as polished metals. Commonly used in the tile, ceramics, flooring and paint industries as a means of quality control for surface finishes. The measurement scale used is GU or Gloss Units. 45° and 75° angles are also available upon request for specific applications.
