Our range of ultrasonic thickness gauges come standard with an 8mm or 10mm Diameter 5MHz probe as standard with LEMO 00 connections. This probe suits most general thickness testing applications.
From time to time, some specific applications cannot be completed with the standard probe due to limited access, thickness of the material or temperature etc. Depending on your application, there are various additional probes that can be used to achieve the best result. Some are for dense material and others are best suited for smaller diameter pipe and tube. See below for the various options that we can supply.
Mini Probe (6mm) (TGP5R6)
Used for curved surfaces with a diameter of at least 15mm. The smaller surface area of the probe (6mm diameter) allows for better coupling with the curved surface of the material that is being measured. This probe also suits measurement of thinner materials with a frequency of 5MHz.
Right-angled 90° Probe (TGP5R8)
Standard supply with our gauges. 8mm 5MHz frequency used for general thickness gauging of most common metals.
2.5MHz Probe (TGP2R10)
The 2.5MHz probe is used for high penetration. With a lower frequency and longer wavelength it is used to get readings on dense materials that are highly attenuating (HDPE, cast iron etc) and thicker samples.
High Temperature Probe (TGP5HT12)
The high temperature probe has a special PTFE (Teflon) casing that allows for the measurement of thickness of materials that are at a temperature of up to 300°C
