The Atago PAL-α "alpha" Digital Refractometer from Japan uses the Brix % scale to measure sugar content or total dissolved solids in aqueous solutions.
The PAL-α has an extended measuring range from 0 to 85% Brix, with 0.1% resolution to cover almost any application.
The most common example is the determination of sugar content in fresh fruit, vegetables and juices, jams, sauces and condiments. Also widely used for quality control monitoring within the manufacturing process and finished goods QA testing.
It is compact and lightweight; the body is IP65 protected against dust and water jets making it easy to clean up after use under running water and it runs on 2 x AAA batteries (10,000+ measurements). It also features ATAGO's Automatic Temperature Compensation "ATC" for samples of all temperatures through use of advanced algorithms.
Usage is extremely simple with one touch measurement. As little as 0.3ml (2~3 drops) sample is required for testing and results are determined quickly within 3 seconds. Zero calibration can be completed with water.
