The PAL-1™ Digital Refractometer from Atago Japan uses the Brix % scale to measure sugar, total soluble (dissolved) solids or TDS in aqueous solutions. 

The Atago PAL-1™ has a wide measuring range from 0.0% to 53.0% Brix with 0.1% resolution.

Widely used for quality control monitoring within the manufacturing process and also finished goods. The most common example of use is the determination of sugar content in fresh fruit, vegetables and juices at primary producer, market and retail levels. 

The PAL-1 "pocket" Refractometer is ultra compact and lightweight for total portability. It is IP65 rated for protection against dust and water jets, making it easy to clean up after use under running water.  It runs on 2 x AAA batteries (up to 11,000 measurements) and features Automatic Temperature Compensation "ATC" for samples of all temperatures through the use of advanced algorithms.

Using the PAL-1 is extremely simple with one-touch measurement.  As little as 0.3 ml (2-3 drops) sample is required for testing and results are determined quickly within 3 seconds.  Zero calibration can be completed with water.
