Sikkens® Scratch Tool
Corrosion Test Sample Preparation
Ascott Sikkens Sctratch Tool.
This scratching tool is specially designed to perform scribes on coated steel panels and test substrates prior to salt spray corrosion testing, for example as described in ISO 9227.
The test panels are prepared with one or several straight scratch tracks over the whole of the metal sheet width in such a manner that they lie parallel to the narrow edge of the sheet and penetrate to the substrate. In some cases a St. Andrew's Cross scratch track may be necessary.
As standard, the scratch tool is supplied with 3 tungsten carbide cutting blades
- 1 blade @ 0.5mm thick, the Daimler Chrysler version
- 1 blade @ 1mm thick, the original Sikkens® version
- 1 blade @ 2mm thick, requirement for 2018 update of ISO 12944-6
